In today’s episode, Jayson Waller is joined with his friend and PowerHome Solar Director, Joe Cabban to discuss “The Only Real Failure” in life, being a quitter.

Jayson and Joe look back on both of their past events that could’ve gone differently if only they had persevered, including quitting sports in their early days. They talk about Jayson’s appearance on David Meltzer’s 2 Minute Drill Pitch Show where entrepreneurs from all walks of life compete each week for more than $50,000 in cash and prizes; five contestants have just two minutes to deliver their most convincing pitch.

Jayson’s partners were trying to convince him to quit PowerHome, but instead of giving in to the pressure of his colleagues, Jayson decided to go ALL IN, because winners don’t quit! Jayson and Joe also derive life lessons from NFL moments, including those from Jayson’s favourite team – the Detroit Lions.

“Don’t Quit, That Is The Only Real Failure!”

Les Brown and his twin brother were born on the floor of an abandoned building in Liberty City, a low-income section of Miami, Florida. Their birth mother, married at the time to a soldier stationed overseas, had become pregnant by another man and went to Miami secretly to give birth and three weeks later, she gave them away. He was adopted by Mamie Brown, a 38-year-old single woman who worked as a cafeteria attendant and domestic assistant. As a child, Brown was finding it impossible to concentrate and was labelled “educable mentally retarded” in the fifth grade which damaged his self-esteem and confidence. While in high school, Brown used to fantasize about being on stage speaking to thousands of people. After high school, Brown found employment as a city sanitation worker, but he was determined to achieve what he desired. Firmly intent on becoming a DJ, he learned all he could about the workings of a radio station. One day, when a disc jockey became drunk on the air and Brown was the only other person at the station, he filled in at the microphone. Impressed, the owner of the station promoted Brown to part-time and then full-time disc jockey. In the late 1960s, Brown moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he had a top-rated radio program and was eventually given added duties as broadcast manager. This new level of influence inspired Brown to become more socially and politically conscious, urging his listeners to political action. After being terminated from the radio station, he ran for election in the Ohio House of Representatives and won. After leaving the Ohio State Legislature, he shifted his career to television and became a host on PBS. From September to Nov 1993, he hosted a talk show, The Les Brown Show. On August 29, 1995, Les Brown married legendary soul singer Gladys Knight in a private ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada. They both had been married previously. The two divorced in 1997 due to irreconcilable differences, though he claimed the two would remain friendly. In 1994, he was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. The doctor informed him that cancer had consumed 43% of his T1 vertebrae and had metastasized to seven parts of his body. When he entered the motivational speaking arena in the mid-1980s, he had virtually nothing, having moved to Detroit with his clothes and just one tape of his motivational speeches. He rented an office that he shared with an attorney. Now, Les Brown is a highly sought-after resource in business and professional circles for Fortune 500 CEOs, small business owners, non-profit and community leaders from all sectors of society looking to expand opportunities. He energizes people to meet the challenges of the world around them. Hundreds of thousands are watching him on YouTube and tens of thousands interact with him regularly on Facebook. He has a keen way of turning what he touches into gold. Over 20 years ago, he won a Chicago-area Emmy® for his unsurpassed fundraising pledge drive for the Public Broadcasting System.

Whether you are a billionaire or a student, each of us has the same 24 hours in a day. Daily habits help set you up for success. Every prominent leader or CEO has daily habits they have incorporated into their routine. Daily habits can determine how fast you achieve your goals

To be successful, we must evaluate our current life, we need to ask ourselves are there any bad habits we have that are holding us back? If we do not have solid routines throughout our day our goals will take longer to achieve. So much goes into success more than just the work itself. Successful people set themselves up for success through daily habits.

Many confuse the difference between a business and a brand

A business is your foundation, your product and the services you offer. It’s what your business model is made for. Before you create a brand, you need a business as the starting point!

A brand is an emotional connection to that business! It’s the personality behind the business that you are promoting to your audience to get them intrigued in what you are selling or offering.

DO NOT RUSH YOUR BRANDING! Building a brand also does NOT happen overnight. This takes TIME! The more your business grows and evolves, you’ll form a much clearer vision of your brand’s voice and identity, that will better resonate with not just your product/service but your audience as well.
